The highest point on the island is Mount Vrachionas and you get a wonderful view of the whole eastern seaboard from Mount Skopos which you can see just in the centre distance to.............

In the centre are the salt ponds.

Alikes and Alikanas share a long stretch of beach. The track leading to the top of the mountain starts in the village of Gyri but it is not easy to find so stop at the red and white taverna for a drink first. The track is about 30 metres from the taverna on the opposite side and is just a gap between two small buildings.
